Our classrooms are places of wonder, places where children have agency and voice. We combine academic depth with block building, outdoor exploration, creative thinking, and real-world problem-solving, all in a nurturing and joyful environment.
Block building is a daily, whole-class experience. Children construct structures inspired by real life, exploring math, engineering, collaboration, and dramatic play. This begins in Reception and evolves through Grade 1. Research for their structures is conducted on field trips and in the Library.
It is learning that starts with questions instead of answers. Children explore open-ended essential questions, big ideas, ask why and how, and make meaningful connections across subjects and life.
We use the Readers’ and Writers’ Workshops approaches including a wide variety of reading materials and encouraging children’s development of authentic writing. Children build fluency, creativity, and a love for language in both structured and playful ways.
Math at Sagebrook is hands-on and meaningful. Children use manipulatives, games, and real-life scenarios to develop number sense, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Wellbeing is part of everyday life through mindfulness, reflection, movement, and caring relationships. Children feel safe and celebrated. Teachers and counselors alike are caring, gentle, supportive adults.
Technology is used sparingly and with purpose. We prioritize hands-on, human-centered learning. Digital tools are introduced only when they enhance the learning experience.
We do not conduct traditional exams. Assessment is ongoing and personalized. Children practice skills in real-life scenarios and demonstrate learning through projects, portfolios, discussions, and self-reflection.
